If it matters to me, then it matters to God
By Avi Ortiz
It is a humbling experience to be part of the General Santos Medical Mission Team.
Before the mission, I was hesitant to join because it was difficult to get vacation leave from my work on the required dates. With God’s grace, I submitted my application and it got approved on the day itself. I was so surprised because as per normal leave application, it will take weeks to get an approval from the office but mine took only few hours. God is indeed good!
During the mission, God covered me with His grace and mercy. Most of the time, the location of the mission is on the field where I was exposed to extreme heat for long hours. Usually, in this kind of condition, I would experience fatigue and get sick. With God’s protection, I gained more strength and I was able to enjoy the purpose of the mission with the kids. God is good, all the time!
After the mission, it took me awhile to understand God’s plan for me. The mission helped me to realize that God is telling me that my purpose and direction is not based on myself but it is about taking care of the needs of others.
Thank you, Lord!
