I am a fussy person. I am
the type who easily gets uncomfortable just with a sight or smell of something
unpleasant. This trait hinders me from doing or taking part in outdoor
activities. Hence, committing to this mission trip was really a big surprise
not just to me but to my family and close friends as well. I was anxious with
thoughts of not having decent sleeping accommodation, filthy toilets, muddy
venue and even the lack of proper hygiene of the people in GenSan. I had all
these concerns plus the growing stress both at work and home for my post
month-end reports deadlines and the fact that I just shifted houses.
I have already given a
warning of possibly backing out when the good news came –my family committed to
sponsor the gift packs for the kids. This was actually an answered prayer as I had
difficulty finding mission sponsors. It was a huge relief because my dad and
sister took charge not just of shouldering the cost but also of shopping for
the school supplies and candies we have planned to give out. I was truly amazed
how God moved my family and how He made it impossible for me to quit.
When the date of the medical mission came, I was confident knowing that God called me to be part of this. He led me to do some unimaginable tasks which I thought I could not do. I had a blast and truly, no enough words could describe how awesome it felt. I am so grateful the He allowed me to experience those 3 days as it would have been a no-way without His blessing. Though it wasn't a 180 degrees turn for me (yet) after the mission trip, I believe God is slowly transforming me to become better. I will definitely say yes to wherever He calls me to go next.

To end this testimony, I want to share my favorite verse from 2 Corinthians
12:9 "God's strength is made perfect in our weakness". As everything
we have is from God and by the grace of God, we should not be depressed by our
weakness or unfortunate circumstances. We may have every excuse possible but no
matter how hard we run away, we will find that His purpose cannot be withheld
from Him. Just as He strengthened Moses and gave him the words to speak to the Pharaoh,
He will do the same to us as long as we walk in obedience. We do not need to
fear, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
